TALKIE ATTRACTIONS

OPERA HOUSE. TOM WALLS IN “LEAP YEAR. ’’ I “Leap Year,” the Tom Walls comedy, has reached the Hawera Opera House, and judging by the enthusiasm displayed by large audiences there today, fulfils all predictions that the movie critics made for it, as being one of the biggest laughter hits of the year. Without his famous partner in comedy, Ralph Lynn, it is demonstrated that Walls loses none of his grip upon the comedy of situation and sequence. Indeed, it is refreshing to see Walls dominating every scene, as his is the type of humour that has all the satisfying variety which makes one want to see and hear more of him. The j picture abounds in typical Wallsian situations, which lead to many laughable and intriguing develojiments. “Leap Year” will be at the Opera House again to-night and on Monday evening. Seats may be reserved by ’•phone at Miss Blake’s.

GRAND THEATRE. “TEXAS BAD MAN.” In “The Texas Bad Man” showing ar. the Grand Theatre to-night and finally on Monday, Tom Mix appears as the two-fisted Texas cowboy and furnishes the lion’s share of the excitement. Mix plays a stalwart Texas Ranger in the disguise of a nasty, bold bandit ■ —all to round up a gang of desperate crooks. There is shooting, Tiding and general excitement galore, and Tom Mix carries off his honours like the great picture star he is.

Beautiful Lucille Powers is entirely adequate ns the heroine. Another chapter of “Jungle Mystery” will also he presented.
