INCREASE IN 'CONSUMPTION.
ENGINEER REPORT'S TO BOARD.
The figures submitted: by the engineer (Mr T. R. Overton) to the South Taranaki Power Board at the monthly mooting alt Hawera last night showed that, as eom'pared with .Tuly of 1932, there had been an increase in: units generated and purchased from the department of no fewer than 5(5,816 units and, in maximum demand, of 147 kilowatts. He Stated that the engine ran. for only two hours and the rivelr flow had av-ei-aged twelve .inches over the weir. •Mr .T. B. Murdoch, chairman, presided, and there vats a full board presamt. , The report stated also that on the Meremero road 53 chains of 11,000vollt and 26 chains' of 400-volt, line had been completed; on the Little Tempsky road 32 chain's and throe chains respectively; on the Sheet Road, Auroa, 24 cliains to supply Mr Sandford’s garage; at Maltaipu, five chains to Mr Martin s; at Mokoia, an extension to 1 Mr Leggo s farm; at Ohangai road, 12 chains to Mr Winn’s; in Mamaia' town' district, eight drains. Transformers were also installed as required. ■Service lines were constructed at Mere-mere, Little Tempsky, Skeet, Notmrnnlby, Manawapou, Tawh'iti,. Ohangai South', Ka.taitou.ru and Mountain Toads, Mokoia and Norniamiby, and Caledonia, TJlnioln and Princes Streets. / Recomstruchional work was done on. the Skeet Road, Ahipaipa Road, Manga, wbero Road, at the Otakeho factory, Hurleyvillo factory (.connected to new building), Hawera Milk Supply. General inspection was carried out ot transformers, fuses, switches and hues and maintenaiiee necessary done, white festoons of lights were erected and dismantled for the Ohangai ewitelnng-on ceremony. . , - Lorries and cars were m good o-rder and giving good service, and work in the depot was' done as required. One hundred and thirty-five permits were issued for different classes o± work and 13S inspections made, consisting of extensions, • new' consumers and re-inspections of old installations The connections for * milking machines motors and water-lieaters foi the month showed good progress. The engineer reported in conclusion that manv inquiries- had been received from al.l pants of tlie district for milking machine motors; water-heaters in shields and field pumps, and priority as far as possible was given to shed motors. He added that extensions to the Manawapou district would necessitate the ire'ciomistnuicitiomi of the. reticulation and the taking of the 11,000-volit lune along that road for about a mile. Many contracts in groups ainid individuals had been arranged and all were proceeding wctll. . - . * it. was decided to donate a jug and a ketltlle as prizes for children’s cooking at. the jubilee Eg.mont Show. The action of the chairman in. allowing free power for the Mayor’s charity ball was confirmed-. It was explained that in oeddr ltd comply with the regulations the board members themselves would donate a sum to cover tlie cost of electricity used.
