The weekly euchre party' in aid of railway social ball improvements “was held in Hawera on "Wednesday evening, When there was a further large attendance of patrons. Wills. Icicles 12 inches in length were observed on the Tongahoe Hill near the Tongahoe bridge by motorists travelling between Hawera! and Patea early this morning. Trickles of water from a spring had solidified at freezing point during "’the night and the formation presented a beautiful speotaidlb against the dark green foliage on the hillside.

Arrangements are well advanced for the children’s fancy dress carnival to be held at the Winter Show Buildings mi Hawera this evening and intending patrons are reininded that doors oqen at 7 o’clock and the grand march commences promptly at 7.30 o'clock. There will be dancing and popular games in the upstairs ballroom, with a freshly arranged supper served in the downstairs hall. The decorations and lighting effects are the same as for the adult charity' ball last evening and the nroceeds of the function also will be devoted to charity.
