CLAIM ON CROWN HOPELESS ALLEGED WRONGFUL DISMISSAL SUIT OF FINN REJECTED. SUPREME COURT DECISION. (By —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 7. Judgment for the Crown with costs was given by Mr Justice Reed to-day in a. case in winch George Finn,, company manager, claimed £391 for alleged wrongful dismissal from the Unemployment Board, of which, he was a member for about eight months, after which the new board was appointed. The judge said that in order to succeed the suppliant must show that the Crown’s right to dismiss a servant at any time without incurring liability for damages had been restricted by the statute under which he received his appointment. In the present case there was nothing in the nature of a contract. The suppliant simply had been gazetted as a member and could resign at any time. There was no provision for remuneration and the Finance Minister could withhold his "approval to anything but the merest nominal -payment. Suppliant’s claim was hopeless. _ - ..... '
