Apparently retaliating in respect to the German transfer moratorium, the Government lias tabled Bills authorising customs surtaxes as a reprisal on foreign Governments whose measures are- injurious to French trade j also a new tariff on goods wherefrom the quota system is removed. FrancoGerman trade at present shows a balance of £22,000,000 in Germany’s favour.
PREPARATIONS BEING MADE NO SERIOUS CRISIS LONDON, June 9. Unconcernedly all preparations have been made for the German moratorium. There is no crisis and those private banks heavily involved with large holdings of securities will be adequately protected. Tlie “Financial News” says dealings in the Dawes and Young loans will open to-day under the shadow of default. The interruption of the service leaves the holders with a serious grievance.
