DISAPPROVAL OF COMPULSION. CHRISTCHUR CH CONFER ENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Assoeiaticn.) CHRISTCHURCH. June 9. Twenty-five delegates representing Christchurch business organisations, churches, social workers, local bodies anl relief workers at a conference today expressed disapproval of an attempt- to force married men into camps against their will. The Mayor (Mr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P.), who presided, was requested the conference to secure a definite assurance from the Minister of Employment (the Hon. A. Hamilton) that no compulsion would -be used and that those married men who would not go mto camps would not be penalised by the relief authorities. Another meeting will be held to-day to consider the Minister’s reply.
