REMOVAL OF STAINS. Scorch marks may be removed by cutting an onion in half and rubbing the scorched part with it. The juice of the onion is an excellent remedy, and the marks will soon disappear, ’states a correspondent. Of course, this only applies to slight scorch marks; things that have been badly burnt will never come really nice again.

Inkstains on silver can be removed •by rubbing the stains with a mixture /of whiting and sweet oil, made into a 'thin paste. Leave this on for twentyfour hours, and afterwards wash and flry the silver carefully, then polish in ■ the usual wav.
