KAPONGA
(From Dill- Own Correspondent). CROQUET. Playing in their second game for the Campbell Cup croquet. competition at 'Okinawa, on Saturday the representatives of the Kaponga Club were beaten by 52 to 37. The players and scores were, Kaponga players being mentioned first-: .. Mesdames Damson and T-ait 23 a-. Mesdames Penny and Wards 26. Mesdames Tatter,sail and Brewer 14 v. Mrs. Johnstone and Miss Washer 26. At the recent croquet tourney at Hawera Mrs. R. EL Williams wais runner up in the R grade singles championship and Mrs. Dawson runner-up for the South Taranaki singles championship. The. Kaponga. ladies- will next play in the Campbell Cup at Stratford in March, when they will compete in the finals. EASTER, RUGBY TOURNEY. A general meeting of the Kaponga Athletic. Club was held at- the Fire Station on Friday evening. The president, Mr. J. Guv, presided. There was a. good attendance of members. On a motion moved by Mr Crowley, seconded by Mr. D. P. F. Malone, it was decided to carry on with the Easter Saturday fo-otball as in past years. It was resolved that the annual meeting would not be held until the secretary (Mr. A. Melville) returned from hospital in the course of a week or two. The following officials were appointed to conduct the tourney: Gatekeepers, Messrs S. Death, T. Jones, W. Marr, and W. Harris junr; line umpires, Mertsrs. JG. B. 'Giuthrie, M. Malone, C. Thurston, B. Hammerfsley, D. Dudley (Mangatoki) and L. C. Thoumine; time-keepers, Messrs R. A. Grace and J. Guy; blackboard' steward, Mr. A. W. Anderson. The secretary was instructed to call tenders for the refreshment and sweets stall at the tourney. Since the meeting a letter has been received from the Master-ton Football Oub. per Mr. Roach, manager of last year’s- team, asking whether the tourney would be held this year as 'the team desired to- get into training. The seeretarv • replied that the tourney would be held as in -previous years. PERSONAL. Miss M.
