OPERA HOUSE. ••LOVE ME TO-NIGHT.” Maurice Chevalier’s latest starring Paramount picture, “Love Me Tonight,” a Rouben Mamouilian. production, shows finally at the rlawera Opera House to-night. The film has Jeanette MacDonald, Chevalier’s feminine lead of previous productions, opposite tlie French star again, with a supporting ca'.st iieaded by Charlie Haggles, Charles 1 Butterwoftli and Myrna Loy. Chevalier is cast as “the best little tailor in all France,” who, in spite of that fact, has trouble collecting his bills. Allien Haggles, an irresponsible nobleman, fails to pay lor lfj suits lie ordered, Maurice sets out to track him to liis uncle’s castle. There, passed off as a baron so that lie can remain until Ruggles can raise the funds, lie meets and falls in love with aristocratic Mis-s MacDonald. Their romance flourishes until his true identity is revealed. It takes a humorous and at the sarnie time romantic climax to straighten matters up to everyone’s satisfaction. A number of catchy song hits are heard throughout ‘Love Me To-night.” These include “Isn’t It Romantic,” “Mimi,” “The Poor Apache” and “Love Me To-night.” Seats may be reserved at Miss Blake’s.

All-American football idol—Wall Street bond isaleman —pirate in white flannels! Those are the experiences which befall Chester Morris as star, of Roland AVest’s new film “Corsair,” which shows at the Grand Theatre finally to-night. This story of. a society athlete who turns sea pirate is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Walton Green, former secret service head of prohibition enforcement. Supporting Chester Morliils are Alison Lloyd, Mayo Methot, Emmett Corrigan, Fred Kohler, William Austin, Gay Seahrook, Frank Bice and Addie McPhail. Another episode of “Detective Lloyd” is also shown.
“ONCE IN A LIFETIME.” “Once in a Lifetime,” the Universal comedy which comes to the Grand Theatre to-morrow night and shows at the. Opera House finally on. Wedneisdav, is a satire on fantastic production methods of Hollywood studios. It is one continual shriek of laughter, taking the audience not only into the forbidden precincts of the sound stages during the making of a picture, but into the private offices of reputedly great executives. In this hilarious production we see an incredibly “dumb” small-time vaudeville actor installed as supervisor of a leading studio, and acclaimed as the genius of Hollywood. OPERA HOUSE RECITAL. YVONNE AND ~NINO MAROTTA. Hiaweva, music-lovers are a waiting with interest the first appearance of Signor and Signora. Marotta, who will' give an operatic recital in tlie Opera House to-morrow night. Signor Marotta has had a. wide experience in grand opera in Italy and Australia and his selections will include some of the Idlest arias written for the bass voice. Signora Marotta, herself a New Zealander, returned to her native country recently with her husband, after making her debut as Mimi in “La Bolieme” 1 in~Milan, Italy's famed music centre. AA'hile there she studied under the direction of Signor Rossi, conductor with the AA'illiamson Grand Opera Company which recently toured the Dominion. At to-morrow evening's recital Signora Marotta will sing “Son Poc-lii Fiori” from “Amico Fritz”), “Avo Maria” (set to the intermezzo from “Cava lleri a. Rustic-ana”), “The Jewel Song” (from “Fauust”), “I. am called Mimi” (from “Lo Bolieme’ ), “Who Will Buy” (Jomelli) and “Dewy Violets’ ’ (Scarlatti). Signor Nino Marotta’s numbers will inc-lucTe “11 Lacerata Spirito” (from opera “Simon Boceanegra”), “Ninna Hanna” (from the opera “Migiion”), “Ella Giamim M’Amo” (Verdi), “Non la Destate (Di Faleo), and with Signora Marotta in the duets, “Mia Sposa Sara la mi a Bandiera” (Rotoli), “Perdonann (Garcia), “Carlo! io Muoio (from Verdi’s opera “I Masnadieri ). Assisting the Marottas will be Mr. Richard Maunder (violin) and Mrs. tetuart Cunningham (piano). many others.
