(From Our Own Correspondent). SCHOOL ANNUAL PICNIC. RESCUE! OF ROY BATHER The annual picnic of the Mangamingi School was held on Friday in Air. G. H. Brown’s paddock on the banks of the Pa ton. River. The day was fine and a. pleasant time was spent with races for flic children and a, game of cricket for the men. After lunch .several bathers went in for a swim and a. possible drowning fatality was prevented by the plucky act of Mrs. Cliisnall who dashed in to the help of Maurice Pennington, who had crossed the rapid and got into difficulties. She with the help of the lad’s elder brother, was able to keep the smaller bov up till Mr. Pat Hickey and Mr. H. Pearce answered the call for help and took the boy from tbr water.

The gathering was just starting for home, when the rain came on.
