PROGRESS OF JUDGING. ALTON AND MANUTAHI. There were fine displays, of calves at Alton and Manutahi on Tuesday i when the work of judging in the War nganui Education District calf-rearing competition was continued. The. judges were Messrs. J. C. M illiams (type), T. W. Lonsdale (condition) and J. B. Hogg (records). All were exceedingly pleased with the en- [ tries nu.Vle by the children. B. Muggeridge, had charge of the organisation and at i the conclusion expressed thanks to all who assisted in the work of the clubs. Special prizes donated by Mr. W. P. Wallace, of Waverley, were won by Olga Hodge, Jean Nicholson, Ruth Nicholson and J. Schwass. At Alton, the ladies committee entertained the party at luncheon in the hall, the ladies responsible for this work being Mmes. A. J. Gibbs, H. Hodge, P. Goile, D. Sadler, L. Hunt and Leigh and Miss Sutherland. At Manutahi the senior .girls arranged afternoon tea for the party. ,A rosette was presented to the youngest competitor, Desmond Cornwall, a tiny boy of five. GROUPS Y. AND VI. JUDGED Yesterday the work of judging in Groups V. and VI., Toko and Stratford areas, in the Boys and Girls’ Clubs calf-rearing competition was completed by Messrs W. B. Fea-ron (dairy condition) and H. A. Hunt and H. J. Kaye (type). Mr Bod Syme controlled the. organisation of the work in the groups. Lunch was served at the Toko Solioo-l- by Mrs Harper. In the Jersey-Ayrshire class the leaders on condition in Group V. were Daphne Forbes with 1311 points, Monica Milne with 126 and J. Cruickshank with 123 points. In Group VI. the leaders were Eliot Collins 128 J points, Gwen Mander 127, and Lorn a Goble 125. Daphne Forbes and Valerae Walker, in the respective groups, secured first place on type. Cow judging competitions wore also held, the cows being supplied by Mr T. Murrav (Toko) and T. Kirkwood (Stratford). TH E CHAMP lONSHT PS The championships- will be decided pj Tauniata. Park, Eltlinm, on Tuesday next, commencing at noon. The remaining groups 3 and 4 will be judged there on the same day at IQ. 30 a.m.
