WOOL SALE AT NAPIER

FULL BENCH OF BUYERS PRICES SLIGHTLY FIRMER (By Telegraph —Press Association). NAPIEJR, Dee. 6. The first wool sale of the season at Napier was held to-day, continuing to a late hour. A catalogue. of 29,000 bales was submitted to a full bench of buyers .representing Bradford, the Continent, Japan and Joc-al opex-ators. Prices early in the sale for better wools showing quality were the same as or slightly firmer than those ruling at Auckland last week, ordinary topmaking sorts were about tne same and bellies, pieces and necks were firm. As the sale progressed ' prices became rather more erratic, and the lower qualities were generally cheaper. Competition was! brisk from the outset, the French section being especially keen. Germany -was much quieter than at the Auckland sale, this being because Ha,wire’s Bay wool is not so suitable for German requirements. The Japanese were keen competitors for all wools suitable for their requirements, and Bradford bought wool, of the re=quired type. The wool was opened in very good condition, the clips this season being better grown and more robust than last year’s. Included in the offering was a number of super wools, and for these competition was animated and good prices were realised.
