CALF=REARING COMPETITION

•SOUTH TARANAKI SCHOOLS. GROUP JUDGING CONTINUED. Group judging m the calf-rearing competitions, under the - aegis of the Boys and Girls’ Clubs, for the pupils of South Taranaki schools was eontinue|d yesterday, when the judging party visited Awatuna,, Otakeho and Okaiawa, to make the awards in groups VII, Vin and IX, embracing the following schools: Group VII, Kaponga, Kaponga Convent, Te Kiri, Awatunia, Riverlea, ancl Makaka-; Group VIII, Auroa, Manaia school and Convent, Otakeho, Oeo and Pihama; Group IX, Tokaora, Matapu, Okaiawa, Ivapuni and Normanbv. There was a very good attendance of parents and friends. At each centre the judges made comments on the calves, which should be of value to ( the young exhibitors. group vrr. j The headmasters present at Awa- j tuna, where the awards for Group Vllj were made, were; Messrs. Kedgley , (Awatuna) and Nobbs (Te Kiri), with Miss M. Tippins (Awatuna) assistant. The awards were as follow--i

COW JUDGING COMPETITION. At each group centre a cow judging competition for the pupils was carried out under the direction of Messrs Denize and Haynes, of the Agriculture Department. There were good entries and an interesting talk on the subject of dairy cows was given by. Mr. Denize at each place visited. The cows for the judging competition for the children were supplied by Mr. E. Phillips at Awatuna, Mr. H. A Nicholls at Otakeho, and Mr. W. G. Williams at Olcaiawa.
