BOWLING. (From Our Own. Correspondent.) A special meeting of the executive committee of the 1 Kaponga Bowling Club was held in the .pavilion on Wednesday evening for the purpose of arranging rounds and drawing 9f players for the H. T. Mellow pairs cup competition. The rules governing the competition, as submitted -by the two members appointed previously, and consisting of some eight clauses, were approved by the committee. The draw for .the various pairs resulted: C. Libeaii and W. G. Cran, A. 12. Gallagher and W. Taylor,' W. A. O’Neill and W* Carrington, S. Palmer, and J. A. T. J. Hammersley and W. Anderson, D. Malone and F. W. Fallows, T. T. Jones and A. E*. Anderson, A. W. Anderson and Y. A. Tait, K. Law arid K. E. Williams, S. Death and'J. H. Tyack, O. E. Ohaniptaloup and N. Gardiner, A. 'V. Tait and J. Paseoe. •The draw for the opening round, which has to be finalised ,by, the week endirig on November 2 ! 7, resulted as - follows (names of skins only being given),: Taylor v. W. Anderson, Cran v. Paseoe, V. A. Tait v. W. Carrington, F. Fallows v. AST. Gardner, R.- E. Williams v. J. A. Dawson, A. E : . Anderson v. J. IH. Tyack. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The monthly meeting of the Kaponga branch of the Women’s Institute in the Oddfellows’ Halt on Wednesday afternoon was one of the most enthusiastic yet held. The president, Mrs' C. H. Brewer, presided and.there was a large attendance. The president extended a welcome to Mrs Kaye, Taranaki provincial'president, who gave an address on the aims and ideals of the movement and also Mrs Porter, of Norfolk Road, who gave an. interesting demonstration on , the icing and decorating of cakes. Mrs Porter will give a demonstration’ in April concerning the crystalising of flowers for decorative purposes. A competition for a decorated vase of flowers was won,by Mrs I. Eivans, with Airs Brewer second and Miss Weyniss third. The judge was Airs v R. D. Dagg. The hostesses for the afternoon were Miss J. Dempsey and Ales dames Jackson Carrington and Webb and the Institute stall was in charge of Airs AlcCullough. and . Miss Wemyss.

METHODIST CHURCH. The series of special efforts which have been undertaken by .the Kaponga Methodist Church this year in celebration of the semi-jubilee of the circuit will reach finality oil Thursday and Friday of next week, Avhen a cherry blosknn'.fair Avill be held in the JWn Hall.' In addition to the various stalls a. number of other attractions are announced. these including a children’s ‘ Christmas tree, guessing and other competitions and evening amusements. \ It is anticipated that this culminating effort of the Kaponga and district Methodists for the semi-jubilee fund will evoke widespread interest and cooperation.
