MEETING OF. THE; BOARD. REPORTS FOR~THE, MONTH. Members' of the Taranaki Power Board present at the monthly meeting at Eiltham yesterday were Messrs H. G. Carman, (chairman), C. Foreman, J. Dobson, R. J. Knuckey, C. E. McGuinnes's, M. J. Gernhoefer and H. J. JNjfarchant. An apology was received from Mr N-, H. Moss. The engineer, Mr B. H. Goldsmith, reported on operations as follows: The number of consumers at October 31, 1932, was 2193. Units generated during the month totalled 914,000. The largest daily output was 31,200 units on Saturday, October 29. The maximum demand of 1764 k.w. occurred on the 11th, 13th and 14th of the month. Installations connected during the month were as follow, figures for the corresponding period last year 'being given in parentheses: Milking motors, 5 (5); other motors, 1 (5); stoves, 3 (1); water heaters, 3 (3); pumps, 3 (1); lighting and heating (new), 6 (1); lighting and heating (additions), 10 (13). An additional transformer was erected on Finnerty Road to service a new stove installation and improve service in the locality. A number of bluegum poles on Sole Road have been replaced, and completion of work on this road is in sight. Service® have been erected as required. The work in the main cut at Mangaotea has been completed so far ais the water level would permit, and the pumps and gear have been shifted to the small open portion of the western end. The widening of this portion is now in hand. The Otago Electric Power ■ Board wrote asking the hoard’s support for a proposal that legislation should be introduced for a compulsory conversion of local body loans with a view to securing a reduction of interest charges on these loans. It was resolved: “That the hoard considers it advisable in the interests of the country generally that a further reduction in interest rates be brought about. The Inglewood County Council wrote inviting the hoard’s contribution towards the overhead expenses of using unemployed labour for the metalling of certain roads in the county which would give a benefit to the board in quicker and better communication.. It was decided to make the required contribution of £9.
