MORRISON CUP GUARD’ CONTEST
Volunteer units of the Taranaki Regiment paraded at the Defence Hall in Hjawera last evening, when 10 members of the machine gun and .rifle platoons formed a guard in, competition with Stratford and New Plymouth for the Morrison challenge cup/ The guard was judged by Captain L. Hunt, N.Z.5.0., adjutant of the Regiment, who complimented the men on their steadiness and smart appearance. The Stratford and New Plymouth guards have yet to be judged before the final results will be. announced bv the adjutant.
•The Hawei'a platoons will go under canvass to-day at the rifle range in Han era for H week-end camp. Instruction will be given in direct and indirect fire and action from the limbers, the men breaking ca.im> on Moiidav morning. .Lieut. A. E. Gulliver wi be p.O. camp and Captain Hunt will be in' attendance.
