THREE MEASURES DEALT WITH SINKING FUND - BILL PASSED (By Telegraph—Press Association.} WELLINGTON. Nov. 18. On the motion of the Hon. C. J. Carrington in the House of Representatives to-dav the Contraceptives Bill was introduced and read a first time. The Ohai Railway • Board Bill was put through all stages and passed. In moving the second reading of the Local Authorities Sinking Funds Bill Sir James Parr said the Statutes Revision Committee, which had cons id er'ed the measure and had agreed that the Public Trustee was entitled to protection from withdrawals of local body sinking funds from the common fund of the Public Trust during the present abnormal circumstances, had suggested an additional clause safeguarding sinking fund commissioners from liability in respect of funds which had been transferred to the Public Trustee.
In the committee stage the amendment was adopted, the Bill was put th rough all stages and passed. The Council rose at 3.10 p.m. until Wednesday next.
