The Taiporohenui Pa was the scene last, night of a' very large gathering of Maoris and pakehas on the occasion of the formal opening of the new hall, recently ■ erected for the benefit, of the Maori- community of the district. The hall, which will. serve . a Very useful purpose, is a 'tribute to the enthusiasm and ability of Mr Scotty Panenui and bis associate committee, who spared no effort to ensure success in the building work and have by' their ' co-operative efforts raised a consider-' able portion of the..sum. required. People from all over Die district and Maoris from Waitotara to White Cliffs were present to hear the . programme arranged and te see the new building. ' ~' During the morning a korero_ was l held, when Tupito Maruera, chairman of the Taranaki Maori Trust Board,, which has financed the construction, offici-allv handed the care of the building over to Die Taipbrohenui'natives.
