SCOUTING IN DOMINION
INCREASING MEMBERSHIP. LORD BLEDISLOE’S REVIEW. (By TVWrapn— Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. The Dominion Boy Scout Council was opened to-day by the GovernorGenera], Dominion Chief Scout. He referred to the growth of the movement in the Dominion. The membership was now 12,404 and l the net increase 588 for the year. He welcomed the increase in the number of Sea Scouts, which was a desirable development in a sea-girt- country whose economic existence depended on command of the seas and: the uninterrupted interchange of seaborne merchandise. The Scout movement was being put by economic adversity to a supreme test of efficienev. Lord Bledisloe said. As the outstanding factor in the advance of civilisation it was liis earnest hope and confident belief that it would issue with enhanced prestige and; an even wider acknowledgment of its national utility.
