REPLACEMENTS AT RUGBY
practice; in new Zealand. APPEAL TO ENGLISH UNION. (Hy Telegraph —Press Association). WELLINGTON, Nov. 16. The New Zealand Rugby Union has written to the English Rugby Union making a strong idea to be allowed to continue the 40 years’ practice of replacing injured players. “This practice has been so long in vogue in Now Zealand,” the letter states, “that it has become as much an accented feature of the game as any of the primary rules. The present generation of players and supporters have known no other custom. Tim New Zealand Union points to tlm injuries sustained b.v Sobey and Murray during the Rritish teams’ tour of New Zealand, and quotes a letter received from the British Medical Association urging that players with head injuries he not allowed to continue idaving.
