TRIBUTE TO SCHOOLS
— RELIGIOUS LIFE 1 OF IRELAND. WIIAT CONGRESS SHOWED. << An experience worth the suffeiings of a lifetime,” is how Father James Mansfield, of Ponsonby, Auckland, described the recent Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, which he attended as one reached delegates frefm Auckland. He reached Wellington on Tuesday in the Tainui from Southampton and left for the north in the evening. “To begin with, it was a tremendous success,” Father Mansfield told The Dominion” in giving his impressions of the congress. “Shall I tell you why 1, Well, the great 1 triumph was largely due to the Catholic teachers of Ireland. If we closed the schools we might as well close the churches, for it is in the •schools that our army is formed. The fervour displayed at the congress, the atmosphere created, could only have been the result of the work done by the teachers. They had prepared the wav.
“I regard the congress as the greatest event in Irish history and a grand set-off against all forms of Bolshevism. Li itself it was a miracle of organisation.”
