ELTHAM MAGISTRATE’S COURT
MEN ON LICENSED PREMISES. FINES FOR MOTORING OFFENCES. Kenneth Hamilton and William Mansfield, who were found on licensed premises pt Kaponga after hours on October 8, were each fined £l, with 10s costs, in the Eltham Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Constable O’Donogliue said that at 8 p.m. he found the two men inside the Dominion Hotel. Their excuse was that- they had come to make arrangements to sweep the chimneys. Pleading guilty to having driven a car without Tights at Eltha.m oil September 17, D. O’Dea was fined £l, with 10s costs. William Wilson, motor mechanic, Toko, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving a car on the footpath of Bridge Street on September 5 and with driving a car in jt manner dangerous to the public. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving a car without lights. Kevin Donnelly, butcher, Stratford, and Roy Collins', farm hand,. Stratford. were charged with abetting .Wilson in the commission of the offence of driving a car on the footpath. Wil son’s driving license was cancelled for 12 months and he was convicted and fined £5, with 10s costs, on the charge of dangerous driving. The other charge was withdrawn. Donnelly and Collins were each convicted and fined £2 10s, with 10s costs, and will be debarred from holding drivers’ licenses for 12 months. Each was allowed 14 days in which to pay the fine.
