VICTORY OF DENIS BOY. ■Me CAR TEN’S LUCKY MOUNT. Denis Boy, the winner of the A.J.C. Metropolitan Handicap, was a lucky ride for the Hawera horseman M. MeCarten. Originally MeCarten was engaged to ride Cylinder, and when that horse was withdrawn lie was free to accept the ride. MeCarten was particularly anxious after the race to express his gratitude of Mr T. C. Trautwein for having allowed him to get off Chide, for whom ho was engaged after Cylinder was scratched. “I had a great run all the wav,” said MeCarten. ■“■Going out of “the straight, I was in front of two horses, hut was near the rails, and I was determined not to cover more ground than was necessary. Along the back I moved round two horses to follow Lough Neagh and Taisho, and from then Denis Boy gradually improved his position. Denis Boy went kindly all the way.”
