TEMPERANCE UNION
HAWERA BRANCH SOCIAL A very pleasant social evening -was spent in the Methodist Bible Class room, Hawera, on Thursday last, the proceeds being to augment the funds or the Hawera branch of the Women s Christian Temperance Union. The president (Mrs Exley) took the opportunity of bidding farewell to Miss Margaret Emmitt, who left on Saturday for the Ivaritana Hospital. Items were as follow: Pianoforte solo, Miss Rita Hawkins; songs, Mr •Simpson, Mr C. Lamb and Mrs Haitmann; elocutionary items, Mrs Leaman- instrumental items, Master Louis and ’ Margaret and Olga Fox; club swinging, Mr E. Yearbury; vocal duets Air C. Lamb and Mis Margaret Lamb; anecdotes, the Rev. E. S. Emmitt; community singing, led by Rev. E.^S-, Emmitt. After the singing of the National Anthem supper was served -by members of the union.
