PING PONG TOURNEY
HAWERA CONTEST RESULTS FOURTEEN TEAMS COMPETE Fourteen teams representing 7Q players and 17. ladies in handicap singles matches competed at another of the •series cf popular ping pong tournaments held at the St. Joseph’s Hall in ljawera. last evening. Competitors attended from all parts of the, Taranaki province and the tournament was the most successful so far this season, assisting very materially to augment the funds of the St, Vincent de Paul Society for the relief of distress in Hawera. The teams’ competition was won by the Wylds-O’Dea team, consisting of Miss Peggy Wylds and C. P. and C. B. Wylds, and P. J. and and J. K. O’Dea. In the ladies’ handicap singles Misses J. Brophy and Langdon entered the final, which Miss Brophy won. At the conclusion of the, final games Mr Brian Malone presented the trophies, mentioning that Miss Brophy viame all the wav from Pungarelm to won in her section. A silver challenge cup was presented to the Wylds-O’Dea team. It was announced that the next tournament would be held on September 19, when teams' matches and ladies’ singles and doubles would be played. Detailed results were as follow :
