ESCAPE FROM TOP WINDOW
FAMILY LOWERED TO* SAFETY DUNEDIN SUBURB FIRE (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Sept. 5. Fire gutted a two-storied serenroomed shop and dwelling at AVoodha.iudi early on Sunday morning. 1’• Drake, the' owner and occupier, found the fire fiercely burning in the kitchen. The escape of himself and his family was impossible bv tlie stains, and with lifficulty he lowered the family from the top window, then dropping himself safely to the ground. Almost as soon as the brigade enraged the fire, high tension wires •arrving the' current from a conveitei Station' - ’fell across the building, this ’vein™ followed by a- terrific explosion : n which a hot-water circulator was blown through the roof.
