Aug. 31, Major James Do little flew a racing low-wing monoplane at an average speed of 293.193 miles an hour, a new unofficial world’s land ’plane record, at the- national air races at Cleveland (Ohio) to-day. This figure is easily exceeded by Schneider Cup ’planes, which, however, are all seaplanes.
