BUTTERFAT INCREASE,
The figures of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture show that the salted butter graded for Alay, 1932, was 4.843 tons, -and the unsalted 30 tons, a total of 4,873 tons, compared with 4.144 tons salted and SO tons unsalted, a total of 4.224 tons for May, 1931, an increase of 15-36 per cent. For the ten months ended May, 1932. the respective quantities were 96,899 tons and 4,189 tons, a total of 101,088 tons-compared with 90.899 tons and 3.590 tons, a total of 94,489 tons for the corresponding period of the preceding season, an increase of 6.98 per cent. The cheese graded for May, 1932, comprised: White 3,366 tons, coloured 1,893 tons, a total of 5,259 tons, compared with 2,556 tons "white and 1,606 tons coloured, a total of 4,162 tons for Aray, 1931, an increase of 26.36 per cent. The quantities for the ten months ended Alay. 1932, were: White 56,006 tons, coloured 29,221 tons, a total of 85,227 tons, compared with 58.941 tons white and 25.585 tons coloured, a total of 87,526 tons, for the corresponding period of the pre- - ceding season, a' decrease of 2.63 per ckint. . , , ~ Converting these figures into butterfat equi vailent there is an increase of 4.645 per cent, in butterfat production for the ten months as compared with tho corresponding period of the 1930-31 season. . Stocks held in the various grading rorts as at 31st May, 1932, were: Butter, 14.265 tons; choas© 12,160 tons, as compared with 13,944 tons butter and 10,877 tons cheese held on May 31, 1931
