ORANGE LODGE SOCIAL
TOWEL GIFT EVENING. A very enjoyable social evening was tendered to Miss Mavis Reid and Mi Claude Shaw last week when Mesdames Green and Lewis kindly placed the Carlton tearooms at Hawera at the disposal of the ladies’ and men’s Loyal Orange Lodges. The event was in the nature of a towel gift evening on the ocasclon of Miss Reid’s and Mr. Shaw's approaching marriage and drew an attendance of approximately 50. The evening was spent in games and a number of musical items were given. The artists who contributed were Miss J. Tonics (elocution), Mrs. Robb (musical monologue and recitation ). Mr. Rushton (song) and Mr. Arch bold (mandolin). Accompaniments were played by Miss Tonks. These items were enthusiastically received and all tile artists were recalled.
A dainty supper was provided, after which the parcels were opened, disclosing a great variety of towels. On behalf of the gathering Mr, Finlay extended to the young couple the best -.visho- for the future, aiul Mr. Shaw gave a suitable response.
