DELEGATION FOR OTTAWA
EARLY STATEMENT EXPECTED. AGENDA PAPER RECEIVED. ;Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 25. The agenda paper for the Ottawa conference was.received by the Government to-day and it is expected the selection of the New Zealand delegation will bo announced to-morrow.
The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, to-day said the agenda was not long, but reflected the importance of the conference. The Cabinet Ottawa conference committee heard representations to-day from the Dominions’ dairy interests; and the agenda was discussed at length. , Mr Forbes said the delegation would be as small as possible. As far as New Zealand w r as concerned the representatives of the exporting interests would, if possible, form part of the official delegation. MUST BE READY TO BARGAIN. PAPER REPLIES TO BRUCE. LONDON, May 25. “If Mr Bruce or Australia intends the Ottawa conference to bo a success,” says the “News-Chronicle,” “they must abandon the attitude indicated. Mr Bruce must bo prepared to bargain in reality. Britain cannot possibly go to the conference committed beforehand to the theory that Australia’s present preferences are final and cannot be increased.”
