CHAIRMAN PROMISES REPORT, “SUNLIGHT” FOR THE MAYOR. (By Telegraph—Press Association.' WELLINGTON, May' 21. Certain correspondence between the board and the Auditor-General on matters concerning the internal management of the board’s affairs were discussed at a meeting of the Fire Board. The chairman (Mr N. Nelson) said the Mayor’s recent remarks must be considered to be of au ex parte nature, and he intended to reply to them fully. “I will make a full statement at the board's meeting to be held on Friday next,” said Mr Nelson, “and that statement will be handed to the Press for publication. Everything in connection with the case will he included. If the Mayor wants sunlight he can have it.”

Mr R. Semple gave notice of motion that the appointement of the deputysuperintendent be terminated.
