WATERSIDER SHOT DEAD
MURDER AT HOBART.
MEN SEEN RUNNING AWAY.

HOBART, April 5.
Cold-blooded murder was perpetrated to-day at 'Harrington Street, Hobart. The victim was Charles Whelan, aged 63, a watersider living alone. He was shot dead by two men who were later .seen running away from the scene. A neighbour heard men demanding money in 'the vilest language. They heard Whelan’s protests, then a shot and a curse.
The neighbour followed the men for some distance. He then returned and found Whelan dead.
