ASSOCIATION WITH VAGRANTS.

Harold Davidson, rector of •Stiffley, has been charged at the Norwich Consistory Court at the instance of tlie Bishop of Norwich with a grave series of acts and misconduct ontlei the Clergy Discipline Act, including constant association with women of loose character. Tho rector’s defence' is that lie was engaged in rescue work. . Great public interest is shown in the case, which is being heard in the Church House, Westminster. Newspapers are devoting pages to the evidence Mr Davidson is 60 years of age, and has a wife and four children. He has - been bankrupt since 1929, when -the stipend of £BOO was reduced to £4OO. Counsel stated that the rector habitually neglected his parish, staying m London from Monday to Saturday.
