SHEEP DOG TRIALS
KOHURATAHI MEETING,
The meeting of the Kohuratahi •Sheep Dog Club was held last Saturday. The final results were:— Class I: K. A. iSummerliay’s Mark, Wiley Cup, 44 points. Class II: K. A. 'Summerhay’s Mark, Club Cup, 37 points. Class III: It. Nairn’s Scamp, Auctioneers’ Cup, 37 points. Class IV: W. Murphy’s Tip, Main’s Rose Bowl, 44 points. It. Nairn gained the most points at the meeting, taking the A. Kjestrup Cup, with 217 points. Class 111. Open: P. Norris’ Tip, Madden Cup, 42 points.
Class I and 11. Open: T. Reilly’s Paddy, Settlers’ Cup. N. Cl eland won Mr Law’s trophy.
Ladies’ nail driving: Mrs Eougere. Class 11. Open: T. Reilly’s Nigger, 53 points, 1; Hurst’s Glen, 52 points, 2; T. Smith’s Heather King, 51-J, 3; T. Reilly’s Paddy, 50J, 4. Class 111. Huntaway: P. Norris’ 'Tip 1, Lyall’s Sandy 2, T. (Smith’s Toss 3. Local event: W. Murphy’s Tip, 44 points, 1; R. Nairn’s Scamp, 39, 2; iS. Harre’s dog, 38, 3. lii the evening a dance was held in the Kohuratahi Hall and was well attended, although the weather was inclement.. After supper Mr J. Law gave a brief resume of the events of the preceding two days and stressed the value of the trials. Well trained dogs were of great assistance to the sheep farmer, he said, and he thought the trials should be carried on. He then called on (Mrs Kjestrup to present the trophies won at the trials.
