HAWKE CUP CRICKET
HOLDERS MAKE 321 RUNS. NELSON’S MODERAT START. (By Telegraph—Press Association). HAMILTON, Jan. 29. Nelson commenced a Hawke Cup cricket challenge match against South Auckland at Hamilton to-dav in ideal weather. Batting first, the home side compiled 321, Cassidy (opening batsman) playing a patient knock for 34 and E. Lumsden (42) contributed a mineable innings.
Nelson’s innings was disappointing. Neale. S. Newman and Stewart, were the only batsmen to make a stand. An tea the visitors had lost seven wickets for 107. Going and Barnett took six of the wickets. Scores are: -
