A comprehensive display of the work done in the various departments of th Hawera High School was made at the i show and it proved t)he wide scope of toe cuS-iculum. The .classes include home science, commercial, ait, en 0 eerin" and agricultural science. Home science includes dresses and costumes made in the class _T° with various specimens of plain, ana fancy work. Commercial shows fine examples of work of many kinds actually used in the office of a business man or firm. The art display includes clever drawings in pencil and in pen and ink, designs in colour, with some featuring Inew Zealand goods, engineering section features drawings and plans and tools of many kinds. Alongside is a series of drawings done by members of the school is Old Pnp ■ Art Club, of which Aliss D. Garnett is director. An interesting feature is the painting of some e± Mr C. Goodson’s choice and latest narcissus blooms. . . . Agricultural science is- represented bv tests for manures- and sons, bacteria in -soils, capillarity of the soil content, useful and useless grasses, a range of work peculiarly adopted' u> the embryo fanner.

j CHILDREN’S SECTION. The Girl Guides and the- Junior National Reserve were responsible tor many of tlie entries.! in the children •> classes, which this year are a- record and a distinct credit to the young people. The judge (Mrs Lovell) expressed the highest satisfaction with this section and said the children showed a close interest in the decorative work and a degree of originality that promised well for the future.
