FEDERAL ELECTIONS

OPPOSITION PROPOSALS FEAR OF SCULLIN REGIME APPREHENSION OF LANG PARTY. I United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) SYDNEY, Dec. 9. The deputy leader of the Federal Opposition, Mr. J. G. Latham, in an election speech to-day said lie regarded with apprehension and terror another three years of the Scullin Government or a further term of the Lang administration in New South Wales. “If we are elected to office, as I believe we shall be, we will explore every method of helping the citizens of Now South Wales out of their difficult position,” Mr. Latham said. “If an amendment to the constitution is required to give the Federal Government joint control over a State which by deliberate repudiation unjustly increases the burdens on its fellow States and challenges the whole foundation of Australia’s credit, we will be prepared to submit an amendment to the people for that purpose.”

Mr. Latham’s announcement was tumultuously cheered.
