The approach of the Federal elections has found the Stocb Exchange in a markedly cheerful mood. There has been a general rise in prices and investors. are taking their cue from the result of the municipal elections. There has been steady gains in Australian consols and securities to new high closing levels, and banks met with increased favour.

Throughout the State rain is hampering electionering, and in New South Wales and Queensland many meetings have been cancelled. Twelve of the last 14 days in Sydney have been wet.
