AWARD FOR GROCERS

OBJECTION TO CLAUSES.

BRANCH MANAGERS’ HOURS,

(By Telegraph--Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 3.2. Arguing that branch managers of chain stores should not be subjected to restrictions as to hours, proprietors of such stores in the course of arbitration objected to-day to certain clauses in the new award for grocers. After hearing evidence the court reserved its decision. For the chain stores it was contended that branch managers should have the rights and privileges of owners. The master grocers favoured the limitations imposed, saying work after hours and on Sundays was unnecessary.
