ELTHAM STATE SCHOOL
COMMITTEE’S MONTHLY MEETING CHOIR, WINS BANNER. The monthly meeting of the Elfham School committee was held at Bltham on Tuesday evening, when the chairman (Mr W. Ricketts) presided. The headmaster (Mr R. E. Thomas) reported that the average attendance tor the month was 392 (231 hoys and 161 girls), ami for the term 389 (232 boys and 150 girls). The roll number at the end of the term was 421 (247 boys, and .174 girls). There were 3G pupils admitted and 39 withdrawn. _ On August 17 and 18 Mr Rl. Syme visited the school and inspected the nature study and agricultural work classes at the main school. On August 20 over 109 parents visited! the infant- school at the invitation of Miss Harper. On August 19 and 20 the inspectors, Messrs N. R. McKenzie, J. A. Henry and J. P. Hawke, made their annual inspection. Mr Percy's, choir won the banner at the Hawera- competitions. A terry load of cinders had been spread on each, of the school grounds. Repairs were necessary to the swings at the main school.
