Bolder and the defeat of Sloan Morpeth by 10 and 8 by the youthful amateur -T. Feririer, whose steadiness was superb. Morpeth had! good chances but his putter was not working smoothly. Ferrier went to lunch four up, and during the afternoon round was deadly , accurate and overwhelmed the ex-New Zealander. Results are: Amateur championship: Thompson beat Russell 1 up; Keane beat Nigel Smith 3 and 1; Williams (a Victorian 1 youth) heat McKay, 4 and 3; Ferrier . beat Morpeth, 10 and 8. ; Professional! championship: Spence beat Eyre at the 37th; Howard beat , Soutar, 2 and 1; B’dlger beat Campbell j 6 and 5; Cohen heat East, 4 and 3.
