A STORMY MEETING

ATHLETI C SE'CESSION PROPOSAL

The proposal of Taranaki amateu athletic clubs to secede from the present Wanganui-Taranaki centre and to rorin an independent centre was discussed at a special meeting of delegates held in Wanganui last evening. , .sir. L. Cohen (president) occupied tin I chair and also in attendance were Messrs 11. Amos and V. Jingo, members of the New Zealand council. Tin Hawera delegates were Messrs Leo .Marter and C. J. Cummings. The purpose of the meeting was explained and on the voting of members the representatives of the Press were asked to* withdraw. Considerable feeling was shown during the debate and the meeting became decidedly stormy, two delegates being threatened with ejection. No decision was readied and it is understood that the matter will __ bt settled at the next meeting of the New Zealand council, to be held at 'Wellington on Monday evening.
