BENEFIT ENTERTAINM ENT. “THE OLD LADY SHOWS HER MEDALS.” In the St. Mary’s Parish Hall at Hawera last evening members of the W.E.A. class gave a reading of Sir J. M. Barrie’s wav-time play “The Old Lady Show a Her Medals,” the proceeds being devoted to the St. Mary’s mission fund and the Women’s Na-i fund. There was a good attendance tional Reserve unemployment relief and a. cordial welcome was extended by the vicar. Rev. J. R. Young, who also expressed hi.s appreciation of the large measure of .support that had been accorded the function, gramme of instrumental /and vocal items was contributed. The items inAs a. prelude to the reading a proeluded an instrumental trio (piano, ’cello and violin) by Mesdames Fy&on, Corrigan and Miss Beeehey; duet, Mrs Collins and Miss Winifred Huggins; Mills and Mr. W. G. Simpson; recitations, Miss Joan Tonics. Parts taken songs, Miss Ethel Murdoch, Miss R. for the reading were as follow: —Four London charwomen, Mrs. Dowey (Mrs. W. G. Strange), Mrs. Twmyiley (Mrs. W. O. Fyfe), Mrs. Micklehani (Mr*. 1). St radian) and Mrs. Haggerty (Miss Dulcie Shear); tin* army recruit “adopted” by Mrs. Dowry, Private Dowey (Mr. \V. («'. Simpson); the London parson who advises «M*s. Dowey of the valorous deeds and the death of her “son.’’ Rev. Wildings (Mr. L. H. Oppenheim). At the conclusion of the performance the readers who had assisted with the concert were entertained by the Ladies Guild at supper. Mr. Young thanked the performers for their entertainment. to which Mr. Simpson responded and expressed appreciation of hospitality shown by the ladies of the <jhureh
