The New Zealand cricketers, dismissed the Minor 1 Counties team for 191 in the first innings of the match at Gainsborough, and themselves had reached 62 runs for two wickets at the luncheon adjournment to-day. In the afternoon they declared with the score at 361 for eight wickets and the Counties in the second strike had made 14 runs without loss when stumps were drawn for the day. Merritt was dismissed after lunch and Alills carried on the score for a brilliant century. He attacked the bowling from the start and although he gave several chances, was always master of the attack.
