ISLAND STEAMER STRANDED
NO IMMEDIATE DANGER. MAY FLOAT OFF WITH TIDE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegrapn Copyright.) SYDNEY, June 18. The Island steamer La Perouse is reported to be stranded on a reef near Noumea, but is in no immediate danger. There are 40 Sydney passengers aboard. It is expected the vessel will float off at the high tide.
