Mi'. Arthur Hirst (Formerly of New Plymouth and recently a visitor to New Zealand on a professional tour) had the unusual experience, says the London correspondent of the Christchurch Press, of delivering a pianoforte-lecture in the Swedish tongue on “Valuations in Music” before Swedish residents in London. They were rather surprised that an English-speaking man should be so well acquainted with their own tongue. Mr. Hirst is a gifted linguist and he always uses the language of each country he lectures on the Continent.
