BREACH OF PROMISE CASE
EX-TYPIST CLAIMS £SOO. ALTERCATION BETWEEN PARTIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 13. In the Supreme Court, before Mr. Justice Reed, a breach, of promise action is proceeding in which Grace Marcia Curran, confidential typiste, who resigned from, the Civil Service to marry, is claiming £SOO from Charles H. Yates, stated to be a butcher. The case for the plaintiff is that practically on the eve of the \\eclding after more than a hundred invitations, had been sent out and presentations had been made, defendant broke oil the engagement following an altercation which took place when plaintiff asked for an understanding regarding defendant’s mother, who did not regard her as a suitable match for her S °The defence is that the engagement was broken off by mutual consent and there is a. counterclaim for £2o and the return of certain chattels which, however, plaintiff claims were gilts made unconditionally.
