The death has occurred' at Te Araroa, states a Press Association telegram from Gisborne, of Sirs. Emily Gurr., J.P., wife of Mr. Norman L. Gurr, of Kaitaia, andi mother of Dr. Elaine Gurr. The death of SI. Eugene Ysaye, the Belgian violinist, at the age of 72 is reported in a cable message from London. SI. Ysaye was at one time conductor of the Cincinatti Symphony Orchestra. At the ordinary meeting of the Hawera Orchestral Society last night, a motion of condolence was accorded the relatives of the late Sliss Slorecroft, whose death occurred at the Thames last week. Sliss Slorecroft was for several years a valued member of the orchestra. Advice was received in Patea yesterday by Sir W. G. Belton, chairman 1 of the county council, that Hon. W. A. Yeiteh, Minister of Railways, would arrive in Patea this (Wednesday) evening by aeroplane. Arrangements are being made for the Slayor to meet Sir Yeiteh. The death occurred at Hawera, on Slonday of Sir. Harry Walkley, c.f Eltahm. 'at the age pf 79 years. Sir. Walkley was born at Exeter, Devonshire, and after serving his apprenticeship in the coachbnilding trade ho went to London, where he married early and left for New Zealand in 1874, landing ;it Lyttelton. In New Zealand he has resided in many towns, that lias lived in Elthanl for the past decade. Deceased was married twice and is survived by his second wife.
