GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENT. MR J. E. BUTLAND, OF AUCKLAND Mr J. E. But land, managing directoi of Rutland’s Proprietary, Ltd.. Auclc laud, lias received advice from tin Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. A. ,T Murdock, of his appointment as tin Government, representative on the Nev Zealand Honey Control Board, vice M: T. E. Clark, who has resigned. Mr Butland, who is well known ii business circles in Auckland, was edu cated at the Hokitika public school am later joined the staff of the Bank o: New South Wales in Hokitika (report: the '‘Star”). In 1913 he was trails for red to the Wellington branch, am subsequently joined the Goodyear Com pany, where he was employed for fiv< years. In .1910 Mr Butland went t( Auckland and established an agencj and indent business with headquarter; in the Dilworth Building. The New Zealand Honey Contro Board was formed by Act of Parlia meat passed in 1924. The board con sists of three members, one of whoir is appointed by the Governor-Genera: on the recommendation of the Ministei of Agriculture, and the other two arc elected bv the honey producers and retain their seats for two years, each of them retiring alternately. The present producers’ representatives’are Mr Eobt. Gibb (Southland) and Mr J. Kentoul (Auckland). Under the Act the board is given .power to assume control of all honey intended for export from New Zealand. . It also has the power to appoint, an agent, or agents beyond New Zealand.
