SOUTH ISLAND TOURNEY. RATN DELAYS PLAY. (Bv Tc-lcgrapli—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, April. 6. The South Island tennis tournament was delayed till 11 o’eloek, owing to unfavourable weather. The best game of the morning was the semi-final of the ladies’ single championship between Miss D. Miller (Oaniaru) and Miss Partridge (Dunedin). The Oaniaru girl sueeeded in winning 6—3. 6—2. Results:— Men’s Doubles.—Second round: Phillips and Jensen beat S. G. MacDougall and Guy, 7—5, 6—4. Third round: Boddv and Cox beat Bailey and Paterson, 7—*s, 6—l; Robertson and Sumpter beat Peake and Brown, 6—o, 6—o. Ladies Singles.—Semi-final: Miss D. Miller (Oaniaru) beat Miss Partridge '(Dunedin), 6—l, 6—l. Ladies’ Doubles—Third round: Misses Pattieson and White beat Miss Hill and Airs. Hill, 6—l, 6—l. Combined Doubles.—First round: Robertson and Mrs. Scott beat Williamson and Miss Kensington, 6—l. Roddy and Aliss Hart beat Warne Pearse and partner. 6—3. 6— 1; Hughes and Aliss Melvin beat ‘Bollock and Miss Miller, 6—4, 2—«„ B—6: Barnett, and Aliss Read beat Webling and Aliss Sonntng, 5— 7, 7 —5, 6—4.
